Where to Eat on Rottnest Island this Summer

Best Cafes, Casual Eats and ‘Book Ahead’ Dinner Spots

If you’re heading to Rotto this summer, come for the beaches, stay for the food. The dining scene on Rottnest Island has seriously levelled up, and peak season means long lunches, sunset drinks and a few “we should’ve booked” moments if you’re not prepared.

Read ahead for our tips and recommendations so you can plan ahead for the best food and dining experiences on your next trip!

Best Cafés for a Morning Start

Start your day at The Lane Café for great coffee and tasty breakfast sandwiches before you hit the bike paths. It’s a local favourite for a reason, quick, easy and right near the main settlement.

If a relaxed coastal brunch is more your vibe, head to Geordie’s Cafe and Art Gallery for ocean views and solid breakfast plates. Perfect if you’re staying on the island and not in a rush.

Casual Eats Between Swims

Post-snorkel hunger is real. Frankie’s on Rotto is your go-to for pizza and laid-back courtyard energy. Ideal for groups, families or anyone chasing carbs after The Basin. It’s also ideally located in the main settlement.

If you’re craving pub classics, Hotel Rottnest has you covered with burgers, fish and chips and icy drinks. It’s a summer staple, so expect a buzz.

‘Book Ahead’ Dinner Spots

For something more elevated, lock in a table at Lontara at Samphire Rottnest. Southeast Asian flavours meet WA seafood, and sunset here is next level. Reservations are a must in summer.

Another standout is Isola Bar e Cibo, serving Italian-inspired dishes right on the water. Think long lunches that roll into golden hour.

Whether you’re chasing long cocktail lunches, easy picnic feeds or a gourmet dine in meal, Rottnest Island has plenty of dining options for all this summer. Summer weekends book out fast though, so be sure to plan ahead, especially between December and February.

Your future, sun-kissed self will thank you.
