The Girls Trip You’ll Never Forget

Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, an impending marriage, or just want to get away together, Rottnest Island is the perfect girl’s trip destination. In addition to some of the world’s best beaches and bays, Rotto is rich with unique wildlife and stunning scenery. There’s also a great selection of dining and accommodation options, and several ways to take your trip to the next level.

Have some fun in the sun

If there’s one thing Rottnest Island is known for, it’s its crystal-clear waters and beautiful beaches. No visit to the island would be complete without some time spent lazing on the sand, drinking in the view. And, with over 60 secluded beaches dotted around the island, you’re sure to find the perfect spot for it.

If you prefer your days to be a little more active, we strongly recommend hiring some snorkelling gear. Many of Rottnest Island’s bays are renowned for their underwater scenery and there are conditions to suit all snorkelling skill levels. Take your pick from the calm waters of Little Parakeet Bay, the unique marine life of Little Armstrong Bay, or the more challenging – but equally enthralling – Fish Hook Bay. And that’s just to name a few of the amazing spots you have to choose from.

Even if you’re planning to get away during the cooler months, Rottnest Island is a great option. The waters around the island are warmer in winter than those near Perth and there’s still plenty to do onshore. For more information on what a winter weekend on Rotto could look like, check out our suggested itinerary.

Enjoy good food with great company

After a long day out and about exploring the island, you’re sure to work up a decent hunger. Thankfully, there is no shortage of great eateries on the island for you to try out.

If you’re looking for a quick bite during the day, head to one of the island’s cafés. If you’re near the main settlement, you can try Dôme Café or get your coffee fix from The Lane. If you’re out exploring, look out for Kalli’s on Rotto and Lexi’s on Rotto, where they serve up refreshments with a view.

And if you’re after something more substantial in the evening, try one of the island’s great restaurants. Frankie’s on Rotto is famous for its homemade pizzas and Isola Bar e Cibo offers a fresh take on classic coastal Italian cuisine. Or you can treat yourself to Lontara’s South-East Asian inspirations or embrace the beauty of the Mediterranean at Riva.

Looking for a place for a cheeky afternoon chardonnay or an after-dinner cocktail? Head to Hotel Rottnest for a great selection and a relaxed, beach party vibe. Or make your way to The Top Bar (above Frankie’s) to soak in the view while you sip your favourite tipple.

Get in a little R&R

When it’s time to call it a night, you’re going to want somewhere lush to stay. And there are options to suit every taste and budget on Rottnest Island.

Want to keep it simple and budget-friendly? Book into the Camping Ground or Rottnest Island Hostel. While accommodations here may be basic, their locations can’t be beat and they’re great options for groups.

For something a little more refined, but still budget-friendly, there is a range of neat, but basic, cabins and cottages. The Governors Circle cottages provide an interesting insight into the island’s history and are perfect for larger groups. Or, for something a little different, try the North Heritage Bungalows, which were the original accommodation on the island.

If you’re looking for something special, there are also several more premium cottages, units, and chalets dotted around the island. The fully equipped and self-contained premium view units are the most popular option, sleeping between 4 – 8 people. Or you could try the heritage-listed and authentically restored Heritage View Cottages, which come in 2- and 3-bedroom layouts.

And if your group is all about luxury, you’ll be sure to love the island’s resorts. Discovery Rottnest Island has completely reimagined camping and offers the island’s first low-impact glamping experience. And Samphire Rottnest is the jewel in the island’s crown, offering spacious suites in an absolute beachfront location.

Make it a truly unforgettable trip

What’s a girl’s trip without a little fun and excitement? Rottnest Island’s got you covered here too, with a range of activities that are perfect for getting the blood pumping.
