Rottnest Island Golf Club

Once you arrive on Rotto, you’ll find the heart of the island’s golfing soul right here at the Rottnest Island Golf Club. Operated and managed by R.I.G.C Clubhouse, this beautiful green is situated behind Thomson Bay Settlement, between The Basin and Garden Lake.

Impeccably maintained and well designed, the golf course is a popular attraction and an excellent way to spend your time on Rottnest Island.

About the Course

The Rottnest Island Public Golf Course features nine holes including a putting green and bowling green. With an Australian Course Rating (ACR) of 68 for both men and women, the par for this course is 70 strokes, 35 for each nine. The course itself is 5,543 metres in size.

As is befitting of any golf course and club, there is a licensed clubhouse onsite complete with a function space, seating both indoors and outdoors, and a pool table. When you’re finished out on the green, come inside for a cold one, lunch and a relaxing afternoon.

Geographical Features

For those experienced golfers amongst you, you might be interested in some of the geographical features and weather conditions typical of Rottnest golfing.

The course’s fairways and grass greens are surrounded by beautiful trees offering plenty of shade and spotted with lakes. Rather uniquely, thanks to the absence of private cars on Rottnest Island, there is no traffic noise. This makes for an uninterrupted, peaceful golfing session.

The breezes and wind on the island tends to move to the south and east from the west. Additionally, the various creeks on the course tend to flow during the colder months which add an interesting element to the game.

The relaxing ambience of the island is reflective of the golf course itself: Friendly and calm enough for a chilled game but still more than capable of giving the pro golfer an enjoyable experience.

Times and Prices

The golf course on Rottnest Island is open to the public from 8:00am in the morning until 4:00pm in the evening every day of the week.

To play 9 holes, bookings are only $30.00. Don’t worry if you don’t have or didn’t bring your own set of clubs, because you can rent what you need for just $15.00 as well. Cart hire is also available at an additional cost of $40.00.

For updated prices and opening plans, make sure to check out the Rottnest Island website’s golfing page.

After the Game

When you’ve wrapped up the golfing part of your trip to Rottnest, there’s still plenty to do and ample time to do it in. Whether you like to just relax with a refreshing pint and sundowners in the Gov’s Sports Bar or head out to one of the adjacent picturesque swimming spots, there’s a perfect way for everyone to wrap up their golf day at Rotto.
