Train & Tunnel Tour Package

Train & Tunnel Tour Package

Journey to the Historical Oliver Hill Guns and Tunnel Fortification

Did you know that Rottnest Island played an integral role in defending the coast of Perth during WWII? This 2-hour tour will take you on a journey back in time.

Enjoy a unique train ride to Oliver Hill Lookout. You are then guided through the Island’s huge 9.2 inch diameter guns and the tunnel system that forms part of Rottnest’s military heritage.

This tour must be booked before the day of travel.

Please note:

  • The Oliver Hill Guns and Tunnels is a physically demanding 45-minute tour with approximately 700 metres walking and 240+ uneven steps (equivalent to a 8-storey climb).  There are no rest stops and no backtracking once inside.

  • No carrying of children is permitted except for small infants in baby carriers (which allow the accompanying adult to have both hands free for the railings in the tunnels). Prams are not permitted in the tunnels.

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • The tour takes place in enclosed tunnels. Please watch for low ceilings, uneven surfaces and other trip hazards, and follow guide instructions at all times.

  • Please note that the rates for this package now include a temporary fuel surcharge of $1.00 per person.  This was introduced on 31/03/26 in response to rising fuel prices, caused by the Middle Eastern conflict.  This temporary surcharge will help combat the rising costs involved with purchasing and delivering fuel to this offshore location.
